Evidential
Why does evidential exist
Image manipulation is a powerful technique that can alter the appearance or meaning of an image. It can also be used to deceive or mislead others by changing the context of an image.Â
One way to do this is by manipulating the images metadata, such as the location, device, time, or date of the image. This can drastically affect how the image is interpreted by others. To prevent this, you can use Evidential, which captures images and their metadata, and uploads them immediately to ensure authenticity. The images can be viewed directly from Evidential, providing proof of their authenticity.
How does Evidential work
Evidential is a camera app that securely uploads photos to the Evidential web service as soon as they are taken. This prevents any editing of the image or its timestamp. Users can share secure access to the image and its meta data through a web link, which proves the authenticity of the image as there is no possibilty to modify the image once taken.
When would Evidential be used
Evidential is a useful tool for numerous situations that may require the authenticity of an image to be proved. Some examples are:
The state of a property when leaving or arriving
The condition of the road after a collision
The state of a hotel room
The packing of a package when handing it to a courier
The evidence for an insurance claim
The evidence for a legal dispute
